Recently the wind's been a bit on and off, even when there was some wind it was pretty flat. Things have changed now, finally! there's a full week of swell forecast and the wind seems to be clicking in properly.
Last night we headed to Melkboss with a forecast of waves and the wind was a bit iffy, when we arrived it looked a bit like it was closing out and a bit light in the middle, there was a bit of hanging around, people coming and going and then i just thought, well i might as well give it a go! That turned out to be the best decision of the trip so far!
The wind filled in, powered up 4.7 and the tide backed off, the waves started to wall and open up and it just got better and better as time went on and the tide dropped. It was the cleanest, steepest powerful faces we've had this year, amazing conditions, the logo to mast high sets were so powerful. Finally it was an opportunity to put the twinser 74 through its paces in bigger cleaner waves and it was just amazing, super loose to vary the turn as you need, you can really push it that little bit more vertical and cut back that little bit tighter, with waves so clean its just a case of bury the rail in the wave and the board does the rest.
I couldn't believe it was so busy too .......... ok, not exactly... it was just me, my brother Dave and this one german guy, not even a single kite surfer..... it doesn't get much better than that!
