Off to Morocco!

Yep,  A bit of a last minute decision to say the least.... I was invited to join the guys at the Dakhla windsurf festival, i ummed and arred about the arrangements as it meant flying out of heathrow but we got there in the end. It's been a while since my last trip to morocco but it was great fun so i'm hoping this one will be the same!
This is a shot from last time i went, it was wicked fun!  Not sure the forecast is looking quite as good for this one, but, one thing about these things it's sometimes best not to know, you just go, if it blows, happy days, if not, holidays!
keep you posted, god knows what we're going to get... some dodgey music at least :D

Home Time!

Yep, it's all over for another year folks...
A mixed bag of a season, some really good stuff, biggest waves ever seen in SA type "good stuff!" throw in a bit of waiting around (like waiting around 10 days for wind) and you get the picture, a mixed bag... Perhaps the number of sessions on the water were down overall this year but i'd have to say on a few occasions the quality was up.. so, the seesaw is balanced and at the end of it all, left feeling pretty good.
There are some killer boards on the way again from JP-Australia for next year, I've got some new quality sails in my hands and generally everything is looking up on the windsurfing side of things..
For now though it's back to reality.... Going to work in the dark, coming home in the dark, Cold, raining, ok, i have no grounds for complaint, most of you guys who read this have been doing that for the last 4 months!!
It's a good time to get earning some money ready for the Maui budget blowout that happens every year in the spring.
At the moment the wind forecast is pants for here so i'm not missing anything and it's good to get my head down and put in the hours..  It actually makes you appreciate the windsurfing more when you can't go everyday!
I'm looking forward to the day a good bit of wind does pop up on mr windguru, i'm mad keen, i just need to find those gloves, booties and hood i have stashed away somewhere!!
This is a parting shot from Big bay on one of those better sessions i was talking about..

A solid week in the outdoor Office!

Another full week of sailing just gone by, it's been fairly relentless!
Some very strong winds struck the cape for a few days, unfortunately the big swells of the last couple of weeks somewhat deserted us.  I was left chasing around the cape in search of swell.  Lucky we did though, we actually scored a couple of fun sessions.
I've never sailed at Silverstroom strand (north of Melkboss) before and it was quite fun on the day i went there, we went there because it was really howling at melkboss and flat, i never really like the trip to yzerfontien, it's never that good? so i thought we'd try silverstroom, it was quite fun actually, i went 4.2 which turned out to be a bit small but you had some nice waves to jump when the gusts came through.  Not all time but probably better than bouncing around on a 3.7 at melkboss without swell.
The next day i headed to the cape, sailing at Cape Point then Whitsand in an effort to get some shots done with the new gear before i leave, it would have been good had the camera battery not died on me! typical! it was still pretty small swell but good fun none the less.

Since then another session at Melkboss, new team mate BVS got his camera out and took these two shots, is he the new JC??? time will tell. ;) thanks for the shot though!
It looks like we're headed to a windless period now, at least the surfs back again... Might have to get out on the new SUP's from JP again, I'm digging the purple one at the moment!
