How does that happen??
I've been at home since the end of April, excluding 2 dubious sessions on the water in Ireland i've not been sailing once since then! not a sausage, nothing! it has been unbelievably bad weather for windsurfing... nice and sunny, but heartbreaking stuff for us windsurfers..
With the PWA world cup in Gran Canaria just around the corner it was time to fly out and get some practice, arriving here the wind is already blowing but the wave forecast is not looking so good! fingers crossed it improves.
To make things even worse i can't believe that forecast for home, that is all time rhosniegr, and i'm going to miss it!! AAAARRRGGHHH!!! Oh well, i have a job to do here so i need to get the dust off the gear and get out practicing....

Finally! Gran Canaria has been confirmed and we'll be having an event there in a few weeks time!
It's a slightly shortened event but as always in Gran Canaria you get what you get... you either get lucky and there's swell or not.
Hopefully we get the jackpot and score it something like last year so we can see the best from everyone, will it be third time lucky for Ricardo and triple looping?
it's time to get booking those travel plans and go get me some windsurfing! at last!!...........

No wind sucks, if there's not other cool stuff to do!

My initial plan of spending a windy spring in the UK to get dialed into the cross onshore conditions before the canaries is somewhat backfiring! I've sailed perhaps 3 times in Ireland since Maui, that's it! not a single day at home... Yet... I'm eternally hopeful?
In the meantime i've been keeping myself entertained by going to radio 1's big weekend in Bangor, which was gloriously sunny and a superb weekend, best of all it was free... Watched, Paolo Nutini, Kids in Glass Houses - the best performers i thought?, Rhianna, Pixie Lott, some other poppy chewing gum for the ears type artists before the night finished with Vampire Weekend and Pendulum. All good fun in the sun!

The rest of the time has been spent working hard to save some money for the summer and the canaries but rather ominously there's still no confirmation of either GC or Tenerife happening yet, which is concerning to say the least!
After the football season ended i had to keep fit somehow so i bought a bike, yes i did get lycra'd up but i still don't feel comfortable walking around in public with it on!! it's just wrong...
Taking some time to get used to my clips on the pedals too, a tricky mountain climb up a narrow pathway had me falling, with the feet getting stuck at critical moments resulting in a comedy sideways fall into a prickly bush on more than one occasion, embarrassing..
If the wind doesn't return soon I'm going to have to get on a plane to find some!
Perhaps the new JP-Australia SUP's arriving will make the wind come back?
