Road Trip

Having missed the no wind first half of the week that was Tiree, due to my brothers wedding, i had hoped to join the end of the contest, it looked like a slim chance there was going to be some wind for a light wind wave session, in the end i wasn't allowed to enter as registrations were closed so i missed the whole shebang.
I was disappointed as i needed a result there to keep any overall hopes alive, what happened in the end was probably the worst that could have happened, they got a result without me being there.  Having said that, by all reports it was pretty lame conditions and i really didn't miss too much.

After a week at work without any wind to speak of it definitely grabbed my attention when a couple of guys decided to head north, ok, the forecast looked chilly to say the least! 5 degrees and 30mph wind chill, with everything packed up and bags of enthusiasm i had everything i needed, our resident frenchman (Alex Tritten) and I embarked on a 1400 mile round trip to score a couple of really good sessions in the scottish wilds, for which, you might just have to wait until the new windsurf magazine comes out to read all about.
Let's just say, it was a mission, but well worth it!!

Looking ahead it's really motivated me to score some more killer UK waves before the winter really sets in.

Eye's down on the forecast and suggestions on a postcard please!

Home's not looking too bad for the weekend, side on Starboard tack going sideshore on sunday, not sure if the waves will be much more than head high though?
Still, can be great sessions though, what waves you do get have more punch and a give a better angle for jumping, you're typically sailing in the top end of the bay where the waves pack more punch and are much cleaner..

What's been going down?

Had a great trip up to Klitmoeller, Denmark for the first ever cold Hawaii PWA world cup wave event, It really went off and PLASMA boss Rober Sand put on a killer show for us, can't believe he even ordered so much wind for us!
After that we headed south to Sylt for some rest and relaxation! It was a week of sunshine but no wind and wave combination suitable for us wave competitors, that turned out to be a bit of a disaster as it means we've missed a whole event off the calendar, that means a world tour of two events completed!  It also throws a spanner in the works for Cabo Verde entries too, i'm not even sure if i'm in or not?
I had a nice crossing home on the boat in this picture, a very relaxed way to travel to and from europe, unfortunately it was much windier on the boat than it had been all week!
Getting back from Germany and the weekend was taken up by a beautiful day in Beaumaris, watching that younger brother of mine getting married! i can't believe it, he's properly grown up now!!
The only downer with the whole thing is that it happened to clash with the start of the Tiree Wave Classic! disaster, obviously i couldn't miss the wedding and as things have turned out it was perfect wedding weather, hot, sunny and windless! which also meant terrible windsurfing weather, which is a bonus, in that i haven't missed anything in Tiree, Yet!
I am a little concerned now though as it looks like the end of the week the wind could start to fill in up there on the island, although there's no real swell forecast? I have asked the organisers of the event that having missed no competition yet would it be alright to join in if i can make it up in time before they do get something done? well, decision is pending!  either way there are some things you just can't miss..

Hopefully the wind and waves will be back next week and we can be on for some more of this! Loving my new boards!
